Uncle Mike’s Visit & Calligraphy

Today my friend Tierney and I met Uncle Mike at a pub on Fleet Street! The food was decent… exactly what I wanted/like though. Lots of meat! We also tried a scottish egg- hard boiled egg covered in sausage, rolled in bread crumbs, and fried. It was quite delicious and full of cholesterol. My favorite! It was really nice to spend time with Mike and see a familiar face for once in this huge city. Hopefully the rest of his quick trip is enjoyable! Mike caught some of the warmER weather… still not warm though unfortunately.

I had two classes today… cultural studies in the morning and then in the afternoon I had my first typography class. Could have used Mom in this class! We were learning how to write letterforms properly. I wrote the letter “A” over and over and over for two hours! I didn’t think mine were very good but he said that I was really good and dubbed me winner out of the whole class. Wooo hoo! No prize though, ugh. It is nice though because I get to have a class at the King’s Cross campus.

Oooooh look at that traditional English fare! Is that Yorkshire Pudding with au jus in the center? Thank you Mike for taking Allison and Tierney for such a fun lunch! You certainly get an “A” in typography. We’re you expecting to start with calligraphy?

    1. Well it kind of was calligraphy… we connected two pencils and worked on creating the correct angle for the serif. This is about the only time in my life i’ve ever wished I had a calligraphy pen… I’m sure everyone in the house knows what I mean.

That is a big plateful of food! The scottish egg sounded very interesting. It was great that Uncle Mike, you and Tierney were able to meet for lunch. Your A’s do look beautiful! I had a class called “Lettering” and we did not use graph paper – we had to draw the lines on the paper first and then practice our letters. I remember the hours. I agree, your mom does a beautiful job with her letters. Have fun with the rest of the alphabet.

Were (not my auto-correct we’re — arrrgh) you expecting to start with calligraphy?
